Grownkid Terms of Use & Privacy Policy

Grownkid Terms of Use & Privacy Policy

Terms of Use
Last updated: October 11, 2026
These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Grownkid LLC (“Grownkid,” “we,” “us” or “our”). Please read them carefully. By visiting grownkid.com, applying to or joining the club, buying or claiming a ticket, attending an Event, buying a product, or signing up for our texts or emails, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal information. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Services.
Please note: sections 7 and 8 explain risks you take on when you join our activities and meet other people, section 9 gives us permission to photograph and film you at Events, and sections 20 and 22 limit our liability and explain how disputes are handled.
1. Who we are and what these Terms cover
Grownkid is a social club in New York City and Los Angeles that mixes music, culture and emotions through play-based events. Grownkid LLC is a California limited liability company.
In these Terms:
• “Services” means grownkid.com and any other website or page we run that links to these Terms; the Grownkid club and membership; our Events, pop-ups and activities; our online shop and in-person sales; our texts and emails; and our community spaces, such as group chats.
• “Events” means any gathering we host, co-host or present, in person or online.
• “Content” means text, photos, video, audio, designs, graphics and other material.
• “You” means the person using the Services.
Some Events and features have their own rules, such as an event page, a waiver or the official rules of a giveaway. Those apply alongside these Terms, as explained in section 27.
2. Eligibility
To use the Services, join the club or attend our Events, you must:
• be at least 18 years old;
• be able to form a binding contract; and
• not have been banned from the Services or our Events.
Some Events or activities have a higher age requirement, such as 21 and over for alcohol, and the event page will say so. We may ask for a valid government-issued photo ID at the door and refuse entry to anyone who doesn’t meet an Event’s age requirement. You agree that the information you give us, including your age, is true and kept up to date.
3. Membership, applications and accounts
You can apply to join the Grownkid club through our member form. Joining is free unless we say otherwise. Members may get early ticket access, member-only hangouts, discounts and other perks. Perks are offered at our discretion and can change or end at any time, except perks you paid for, which we’ll honor as described when you bought them.
We review every application and may approve or decline it at our discretion. We may suspend or end a membership if you break these Terms or the Code of Conduct in section 6, if you gave us false information, or if we reasonably believe it’s needed to keep our community safe. Membership is personal to you and can’t be sold, shared or transferred.
If we give you an account, profile or login for any part of the Services, keep your login details private and tell us right away at hello@grownkid.com if you think someone else has used it. You’re responsible for activity on your account that you could reasonably have prevented.
4. Tickets, RSVPs and entry
We sell and give out tickets through ticketing platforms such as ITM Studio and Posh. When you get a ticket, you also agree to that platform’s terms and privacy policy, which cover the purchase and payment. These Terms cover the Event itself.
• Prices and fees. Ticket prices are shown on the event page and may rise between release tiers. If the price changes after you buy, we don’t refund or charge the difference. Ticketing platforms may add their own service fees.
• Purchase limits. We may limit how many tickets one person can buy, as shown on the event page, and cancel orders that go over that limit.
• Transfers. If the ticketing platform lets you transfer a ticket, follow its process. Whoever uses the ticket must meet the Event’s requirements and follow these Terms.
• Refunds. Unless the event page says otherwise, tickets are non-refundable. If we cancel an Event, we’ll refund your ticket price in full. If we move it to a new date, your ticket is good for the new date, or you can ask for a refund within 7 days of our announcement. If we move it to a different city, we’ll refund your ticket price on request. Whether a platform’s service fees are refunded depends on that platform’s policy.
• Age requirements. If you bought a ticket but don’t meet the Event’s age requirement, email us before the Event for a refund. We can’t refund tickets at the door for this reason.
• Free RSVPs. An RSVP to a free Event doesn’t guarantee entry; entry is first come, first served until the venue is full. A paid ticket does guarantee entry, as long as you arrive while doors are open and follow these Terms.
• Entry. Bring a valid government-issued photo ID. Entry may involve a ticket scan, ID check, bag check or security screening, and you may be asked to sign our social manifesto. We may refuse entry to anyone who declines screening, is visibly intoxicated or has been banned.
• Re-entry. Re-entry, coat check and last-entry rules are on each event page. If none are listed, there’s no re-entry.
• Changes. Lineups, hosts, activities, times and venues can change, and we don’t owe a refund for those changes unless this section says so.
5. At our Events
• Venue rules. Follow the rules of each venue and any instructions from our staff, security and venue staff.
• Alcohol. Only guests 21 and over with valid ID can buy or drink alcohol, and some Events are alcohol-free. Don’t bring outside drinks. We and the venue may refuse service to, or remove, anyone who is visibly intoxicated.
• Prohibited items. No weapons, illegal drugs, fireworks or anything else the venue or our staff consider unsafe. We may refuse entry to anyone carrying them.
• Smoking and vaping. Only in designated outdoor areas, where the venue allows it.
• Health. Please stay home if you have a contagious illness.
• Accessibility. We want everyone to be able to take part. If you need an accommodation, email us before the Event. We’ll do our best to arrange it and share what we know about the venue’s access.
• Outdoor and off-site Events. Some Events happen outdoors, in parks or outside the city, and may change or end early because of weather or other conditions. Unless we say we’re providing transport, you’re responsible for getting to and from Events, including the cost.
• Belongings. We aren’t responsible for lost, stolen or damaged personal items. We’ll try to return items found at Events, but can’t promise to.
6. Code of Conduct
Grownkid is a space for healthy play and connection, and everyone who takes part is responsible for keeping it that way. This Code applies at our Events and pop-ups, on trips we organize, and in our community spaces, including group chats and messages between people who met through Grownkid.
You agree to:
• get clear consent before any physical contact, every time, and stop the moment someone says no, pulls away, freezes or goes quiet;
• treat everyone with respect, whatever their gender, gender identity, sexuality, race, ethnicity, religion, disability, body or background;
• follow instructions from Grownkid hosts, staff, referees and security right away; and
• look out for each other, and get a host if someone seems unwell or unsafe.
You agree not to:
• harass, threaten, intimidate, stalk or bully anyone, in person or online;
• touch anyone without their consent, or make unwanted sexual comments or advances;
• behave in a predatory way. That includes repeatedly targeting the youngest people in the room, using age, status or experience to pressure someone, “accidental” or lingering touching to test someone’s boundaries, hovering after someone has tried to leave a conversation, ignoring a soft no, and pressuring anyone to drink or take part in an activity;
• spike or tamper with anyone’s drink, or bring or use illegal drugs;
• be violent, start fights, or damage the venue or anyone’s property;
• photograph or film anyone in a private or vulnerable moment, or share photos, videos or personal details of other members without their consent; or
• disrupt activities, ignore safety rules, or pretend to be a Grownkid host or staff member.
Reporting. If something feels off, find a Grownkid host at the Event or email hello@grownkid.com. We take every report seriously and keep reports as confidential as we can while we look into them.
Enforcement. We have zero tolerance for harassment, discrimination and predatory behavior. If we believe someone broke this Code, we may warn them, remove them from an Event without a refund, cancel their tickets or membership, ban them from future Events and the club, and contact the police when appropriate. These decisions are ours to make, and we may act without a warning.
7. Physical activities, waivers and assumption of risk
Many Events include physical play, such as wrestling, staged boxing, tug of war, workouts, dancing, outdoor games and climbing. Taking part is always your choice, and you can stop at any time.
The risks are real. These activities can cause bruises, cuts, sprains, strains, broken bones, concussions, dental injuries and, rarely, more serious harm. Risks can come from your own actions, other participants, equipment, the venue, the weather and the ground you play on.
Before you take part, you agree that:
• you’re healthy enough to take part, and you’ll sit out if you’re sick, injured, pregnant, under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or have a condition that makes it unsafe, checking with a doctor if you’re unsure;
• you’ll tell our staff about anything they should know to keep you safe;
• you’ll follow the rules, safety briefings and decisions of our staff and referees, use the gear we provide, and remove jewelry and anything sharp when asked;
• you’ll get your partner’s consent before each match or round, and either of you can stop at any time; and
• combat-style activities like wrestling and boxing at our Events are playful, light-contact performances. Slamming, throwing, kicking, choking, full-force punches and any move meant to hurt are not allowed.
Waivers. Some activities require a separate waiver. It applies alongside these Terms, and you can’t take part without signing it.
Medical care. We may have first aid available, but we don’t provide medical services. If you’re hurt and can’t decide for yourself, you authorize us to call for emergency medical help on your behalf. You’re responsible for your own medical costs and health insurance.
Assumption of risk. To the fullest extent the law allows, you voluntarily accept the risks of the activities you choose to join.
8. Interactions with other people
Grownkid is about meeting people, and you’re responsible for your own interactions with other members and guests, at Events and afterward. We don’t run background checks, and apart from checking age at the door, we don’t verify who people are or what they tell you. Use your judgment, especially when meeting someone new away from our Events, and tell us if anyone breaks the Code of Conduct.
We aren’t responsible for what other people do, at or away from our Events, though we take every report seriously. To the fullest extent the law allows, you release Grownkid and its owners, staff, volunteers and partners from claims arising out of disputes between you and other members or guests.
If you’re a California resident, you waive California Civil Code § 1542, which says: “A general release does not extend to claims that the creditor or releasing party does not know or suspect to exist in his or her favor at the time of executing the release and that, if known by him or her, would have materially affected his or her settlement with the debtor or released party.”
9. Photography, filming and publicity
Our recordings. Our Events are photographed, filmed and sometimes recorded for audio, by our team and by photographers and videographers working with us. By attending, you give Grownkid and anyone working on our behalf permission to record your image, likeness, voice and actions at the Event. You also give us a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to use, edit and share those recordings in any media, including our website, social channels, podcast, newsletters, printed recaps, ads and promotions for Grownkid, and content made with our sponsors and partners. You won’t be paid for this use, and you don’t get to approve the final content.
Opting out. If you’d rather not be featured, tell a host or photographer at the Event, and we’ll do our best to keep you out of what we publish. In a crowded room, we can’t guarantee you won’t appear in the background.
Takedowns. If you see yourself in something we posted and want it removed, email us a link and we’ll take it down from our own channels within a reasonable time. We can’t pull content others have already reshared, or anything already printed.
Featured participants. For featured roles, like fighters, wrestlers, performers or interview subjects, we may ask you to sign a separate release. If it differs from this section, the release controls.
Your own photos and videos. You’re welcome to capture your night. Respect people who don’t want to be filmed, follow any no-phones moments, and don’t share content of anyone in a private or vulnerable moment (see section 6). If you’re filming for commercial use, get our written permission first.
10. Purchases, shipping and returns
We sell clothing and other products online and at Events. Payments are processed by providers such as Shopify, Stripe and Square.
• Product details. We try to show products, colors and sizes accurately, but screens vary and small differences can happen.
• Prices and errors. Prices are in US dollars, and taxes and shipping are added at checkout. If a product is listed at the wrong price or with the wrong details, we may cancel the order and refund anything you paid, even after confirming it.
• Orders. We may limit quantities, or refuse or cancel an order, for example to prevent fraud. If we cancel, we refund anything you paid.
• Payment. You confirm that you’re allowed to use the payment method you give us.
• Shipping. Shipping options, costs and estimated delivery times are shown at checkout. Please double-check your address; we aren’t responsible for orders sent to an address entered incorrectly. If a package is lost or arrives damaged, email us and we’ll work with you and the carrier to sort it out.
• Pre-orders. Pre-orders are charged when you place them unless the product page says otherwise, and they show an estimated ship date. If we can’t ship by then, we’ll tell you, and you can cancel for a full refund.
• Returns. You can return items that are unworn and in new condition, exactly as sold, within 14 days of delivery for a refund to your original payment method. To start a return, email us your order number. Return shipping is on you unless the item arrived damaged, defective or wrong. We’ll refund you once we receive and check the item, and items that don’t meet these conditions may be sent back to you.
• Final sale. Items marked final sale, and items bought at Events, can’t be returned unless they’re defective.
• Damaged or wrong items. If something arrives damaged or defective, or isn’t what you ordered, email us within 14 days of delivery with photos. We’ll replace it or refund you, including shipping.
• Perks. Some products, like our proof-of-attendance cards, come with perks. We’ll honor the perks described when you bought them. Perks have no cash value and can’t be transferred unless we say otherwise.
11. Promotions, giveaways and challenges
From time to time we run giveaways, contests and challenges, like pop-ups where you can win a free ticket. Each one has its own official rules, which control if they differ from these Terms. Unless those rules say otherwise:
• no purchase is needed to enter or win, and buying something won’t improve your chances;
• prizes can’t be transferred or exchanged for cash;
• winners are responsible for any taxes on their prize;
• we may use winners’ names and photos to announce results, where the law allows; and
• promotions are void where prohibited.
Promotions we run on Instagram, TikTok or other platforms aren’t sponsored, endorsed or administered by those platforms.
12. Texts and emails
Texts. If you give us your mobile number and opt in, you agree to receive recurring automated texts from Grownkid at that number, including Event announcements, ticket and check-in updates, drops and other marketing. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for help. Agreeing to texts is never a condition of buying anything, and carriers aren’t liable for delayed or undelivered messages. If you change or give up your number, reply STOP first or tell us, so our texts don’t reach the next owner.
Emails. If you sign up or buy from us, we may email you about Events, drops and the club. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. Even after you unsubscribe, we may still email you about tickets, orders, your membership or changes to these Terms.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your phone number and email address.
13. Content you share and feedback
Your content. When you send us Content, like a member application, a photo, a story, an application to take part in an activity or a question for the podcast, or post it in our community spaces, you keep ownership of it. You give Grownkid a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, transferable license, which we can pass on to people working for us, to use, copy, edit, adapt, publish and share it to run and promote Grownkid. You can ask us to stop using it in new content at any time.
Your promises. You confirm that you have the right to share the Content, that it doesn’t break the law or anyone’s rights, and that anyone recognizable in it agreed to be included.
Your social posts. Before we repost something from your own accounts, we’ll ask you first.
Moderation. We may remove or decline to use any Content for any reason, including Content that breaks these Terms.
Ideas and feedback. We love hearing ideas for Events, merch and the club. If you send us ideas or feedback, we can use them freely without paying you or owing you anything. We may already be working on something similar.
14. Our content, brand and intellectual property
The Services and everything in them, including the Grownkid name and logo, our mascots, designs, Event names, photos, videos, podcast episodes, writing and the website itself, belong to Grownkid or to the people who license them to us, and are protected by copyright, trademark and other laws.
We give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable permission to use the Services for your own non-commercial purposes, in line with these Terms. You’re welcome to share our posts and links. Without our written permission, you may not copy, sell, reproduce or modify our Content, use our name, logo or Content to sell anything or suggest we endorse you, or make merch with our brand.
15. Copyright complaints
If you believe something on the Services infringes your copyright, email hello@grownkid.com with the subject “Copyright notice” and include:
• your name, address, phone number and email;
• the copyrighted work you believe was infringed;
• the material you want removed and where it is (a link is best);
• a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn’t authorized by the owner, its agent or the law;
• a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you’re the owner or authorized to act for the owner; and
• your physical or electronic signature.
If your Content was removed and you believe it was a mistake, you can send us a counter-notice. We may end the access of people who repeatedly infringe others’ rights.
16. Acceptable use
When using the Services, don’t:
• break any law or anyone else’s rights, including privacy and intellectual property rights;
• give false information, including about your age or identity, or apply or buy on someone else’s behalf without their permission;
• harass, threaten, impersonate or deceive anyone;
• post or send anything hateful, sexually explicit, violent, defamatory or spammy;
• scrape, copy or collect information from the Services or about other members, including with bots;
• hack, probe, overload or interfere with the Services, our forms or our security, or upload anything harmful;
• reverse engineer any part of the Services, except where the law allows it; or
• use the Services to advertise or sell anything without our written permission.
17. Sponsors, partners and other companies’ services
Some Events are presented by or made with sponsors and partners. Their products, services, giveaways and activations are their own, and their terms and privacy policies apply when you deal with them directly. Taking part in a sponsor activation is always optional.
The Services also link to and rely on other companies, including ticketing platforms (ITM Studio, Posh), form tools (Typeform, Jotform), payment providers, and platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Spotify, YouTube and Substack. We don’t control them, and we aren’t responsible for their content, services or practices.
18. Not professional advice
Our Events, podcast and Content are for community and entertainment. They aren’t medical, mental health, nutrition, fitness, legal or financial advice, and they don’t replace care from a qualified professional. Views shared by hosts, guests and podcast guests are their own.
If you’re in crisis in the US, call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. If someone is in immediate danger, call 911.
19. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent the law allows:
• the Services, Events and Content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement;
• we don’t promise that the Services will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, or that Content is complete or current; and
• we can’t promise any particular outcome from an Event, like making friends or finding a match.
Products you buy from us keep any warranties the law gives you that can’t be disclaimed.
20. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
• Grownkid and its owners, employees, contractors, volunteers, sponsors and partners won’t be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill or opportunity, arising out of or related to the Services or these Terms, even if we were told such damages were possible; and
• our total liability for all claims arising out of or related to the Services or these Terms is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or $100.
These limits apply whatever the legal theory, whether contract, tort or anything else, and they’re an essential part of the deal between us.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that the law doesn’t allow us to limit or exclude, such as liability for gross negligence, fraud or intentional misconduct. Some places don’t allow some of these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
21. Indemnity
To the extent the law allows, you’ll defend, indemnify and hold harmless Grownkid and its owners, employees, contractors, volunteers and partners from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities and costs, including reasonable legal fees, that arise from:
• your breach of these Terms or the Code of Conduct;
• your violation of any law or anyone else’s rights; or
• your conduct at or in connection with our Events, including harm you cause to someone else.
We’ll tell you about any such claim. We may take control of the defense, and if we do, you’ll cooperate with us.
22. Disputes and governing law
Talk to us first. If you have a dispute with us, email hello@grownkid.com with your name, contact details, a description of the problem and what you’d like us to do. We’ll try to resolve it with you informally. If we can’t within 30 days, either of us may bring a claim as described below.
Governing law. These Terms and any dispute between us are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
Where claims go. Any claim must be brought in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York, and you and Grownkid agree to the jurisdiction of those courts. Either of us may instead bring a qualifying claim in small claims court.
Time limit. To the extent the law allows, any claim related to the Services or these Terms must be filed within one year after it arises, or it’s permanently barred.
Urgent relief. Nothing here stops either of us from asking a court for urgent relief, like an injunction, to protect intellectual property or prevent harm.
23. Suspension, termination and survival
You can stop using the Services at any time, and you can ask us to end your membership by emailing us. We may suspend or end your access to any part of the Services, including your membership and tickets, if you break these Terms, if the law requires it, or if we reasonably believe it’s needed to protect our community, with a refund only where these Terms say so.
Sections 7 to 9, 13, 14, 19 to 22 and 27, and any other terms that by their nature should last, continue to apply after your use of the Services ends.
24. Changes to the Services and these Terms
We’re always trying new things, so we may change, pause or stop any part of the Services, including Events, perks and products, at any time.
We may also update these Terms. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date. For material changes, we’ll tell members by email or text, or post a notice on our website, before they take effect. Using the Services after the changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms. The Terms in place when you bought a ticket or product apply to that purchase.
25. Events beyond our control
We aren’t responsible for delays or failures caused by things outside our reasonable control, such as extreme weather, natural disasters, public health emergencies, government orders, venue closures, power or internet outages, strikes or civil unrest. If we cancel an Event for one of these reasons, the refund terms in section 4 still apply.
26. Electronic communications
You agree that we can send you notices, agreements and other communications electronically, by email, text or a notice on our website, and that these satisfy any legal requirement that they be in writing. You also agree that clicking to accept, checking a box or signing electronically, including on a waiver, is as binding as a handwritten signature.
27. General terms
• Entire agreement. These Terms, our Privacy Policy, each event page, any waiver or release you sign, and the official rules of any promotion make up the whole agreement between you and Grownkid about the Services.
• Order of precedence. If those documents conflict, the more specific one controls for that Event, activity or promotion.
• Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, it will be enforced as far as possible, and the rest stays in effect.
• No waiver. If we don’t enforce a right immediately, we haven’t given it up.
• Assignment. You can’t transfer your rights or duties under these Terms without our written consent. We may transfer ours, for example if Grownkid is merged, sold or reorganized.
• No third-party beneficiaries. These Terms don’t give anyone else any rights, except that the people protected in sections 8, 20 and 21 may rely on them.
• Relationship. Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, joint venture, employment or agency relationship between you and Grownkid.
• Interpretation. Headings are for convenience only, and “including” means “including without limitation.”

• Ticketing and payment providers, such as ITM Studio, Posh, Shopify, Stripe and Square, which share your order details and limited payment information, like card type and the last four digits.
• Social media platforms, when you message, tag or interact with our accounts, which share your handle, profile information and messages.

• Other members, when someone adds you as a plus-one, refers you or mentions you in an application.
• Public sources, like public social media profiles, when we invite creators, artists, press or guests to an Event.
2. Sensitive information
Some information we collect is sensitive, such as your sexual orientation or gender identity, and health or injury information in a waiver. Attending certain Events, like a queer Event, can also suggest something sensitive about you.
We handle sensitive information with extra care:
• we only collect it when you choose to share it, or when we need it to keep you safe;
• we use it only for the Event or activity it’s for, for safety, and to meet legal obligations;
• we limit who on our team can see it; and
• we never sell it or use it for advertising.
3. How we use your information
We use personal information to:
• Run the club: review applications, manage memberships, give members perks and early access, and keep in touch with our community.
• Run Events: sell and manage tickets and RSVPs, check you in, confirm your age, run activities and matchmaking, manage waivers and handle refunds.
• Keep people safe: look into reports, enforce our Code of Conduct, ban people who break it, respond to emergencies and incidents, and work with venues, insurers and, when needed, the authorities.
• Sell products: process orders and payments, ship products, handle returns and provide support.
• Communicate with you: reply to your messages, send updates about tickets and orders, and send the marketing texts and emails you’ve agreed to.
• Create content: make and share photos, videos, recaps and podcast episodes, including content made with sponsors and partners.
• Hire and collaborate: review job, creator and volunteer applications and work with the people we bring on.
• Run promotions: manage giveaways, contests and challenges, and deliver prizes.
• Improve Grownkid: understand how people use our website and Events, plan new Events and products, and run surveys. We also create aggregated or de-identified information, like attendance totals, for planning and for reports to sponsors and partners.
• Protect our business and meet legal obligations: prevent fraud and misuse, keep tax and accounting records, enforce our Terms, and comply with laws, legal requests and regulators.
• Do anything else with your consent, or as we explain when we collect the information.
4. How we share your information
We don’t sell your personal information. We share it only as described here:
• Service providers that work on our behalf and may use personal information only to provide their services to us, such as:

5. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. We and our service providers use cookies and similar tools, like small images in our emails that tell us whether they were opened, to:
• keep the website working, for example loading pages, keeping it secure and remembering basic settings; and
• understand how the website and our messages are used, for example which pages are popular and whether emails are opened.
Embedded content, like YouTube videos, Spotify players and Typeform forms, may set its own cookies when you interact with it, under those companies’ policies.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The website will still work, though some embedded content or forms may not. You can also stop images from loading in your email app. We don’t respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals.
6. Texts and emails
If you opt in to texts, we use your phone number to send the messages described in section 12 of our Terms of Use. Reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for help.
We don’t share your mobile number or your consent to receive texts with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Text opt-in data and consent are never shared with third parties, except the service providers that send our texts.
Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. Opting out of marketing doesn’t stop messages about your tickets, orders or membership.
7. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, then delete it or make it anonymous. How long depends on what the information is, why we have it and our legal obligations. Generally:
• Member and contact details: until you ask us to delete them, or 2 years after your last interaction with us.
• Ticket, order and payment records: as long as tax and accounting rules require.
• Waivers, incident reports and safety records: as long as a legal claim could be brought, and longer while a claim or investigation is ongoing.
• Matchmaking and consent cards: only as long as needed for the Event and any safety follow-up.
• Job, creator and volunteer applications: up to 2 years.
• Photos, video and audio: as long as we use them in our content or keep them in our archive.
• Records of bans for Code of Conduct violations: as long as needed to keep our community safe.
• Aggregated or de-identified information: may be kept indefinitely.
8. How we protect information
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information, such as limiting access to the people who need it, securing our accounts and using reputable service providers with their own security measures.
No method of storing or sending information is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee security. If a breach affects your personal information, we’ll notify you and the authorities as the law requires. Please protect your own accounts, and tell us right away if you think your information with us has been compromised.
9. Your choices and rights
Choices you can make at any time
• Texts: reply STOP.
• Emails: click unsubscribe in any marketing email.
• Cookies: change your browser settings (see section 5).
• Photos and videos: ask us to take down content you’re in from our channels (see section 9 of our Terms of Use).
• Membership: ask us to end your membership and delete your member information.
Your privacy rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
• tell you what personal information we have about you, where we got it, why we use it and who we share it with;
• give you a copy of your information in a portable format;
• correct information that’s wrong;
• delete your information; and
• withdraw any consent you’ve given, which won’t affect anything we did before.
How to make a request. Email hello@grownkid.com with the subject “Privacy request,” tell us what you’re asking for, and send it from the email address or phone number you used with us if you can. To protect you, we’ll verify your identity by matching information we already have, and may ask for a little more. An authorized agent can make a request for you with your signed permission, though we may still need to verify your identity with you directly.
Timing. We’ll respond within 45 days. If we need more time, we’ll tell you why and may take up to another 45 days where the law allows.
Limits. We may keep some information when the law allows or requires it, such as order records for tax purposes, waivers and incident records for legal claims, and the minimum needed to honor your opt-outs or enforce a ban.
Appeals. If we deny your request, you can appeal by emailing us with the subject “Privacy appeal.” We’ll respond within 45 days. If you’re not satisfied, you can contact your state attorney general.
No discrimination. We won’t treat you differently for using your rights.
10. Additional information for California residents
This section adds to the rest of this policy for California residents, including under the California Consumer Privacy Act. In the past 12 months, we’ve collected the following categories of personal information, from the sources described in section 1, and used them for the purposes in section 3:
• Identifiers, like your name, email, phone number, social media handle and IP address.
• Customer records, like your contact details, shipping address and limited payment information.
• Characteristics of protected classifications, like age, and gender or sexual orientation if you choose to share them.
• Commercial information, like the tickets and products you bought.
• Internet or network activity, like how you use our website and messages.
• Approximate geolocation, like your city or region, based on your IP address.
• Audio and visual information, like photos, videos and audio recorded at Events.
• Professional or employment information, like resumes and work samples in applications.
• Sensitive personal information, like your sexual orientation or health information you choose to share.
• Inferences, like the kinds of Events you might enjoy, drawn from the information above.
We disclose each of these categories for business purposes to the recipients described in section 4, mainly our service providers. We don’t sell personal information, haven’t sold it in the past 12 months, and have no actual knowledge of selling the personal information of anyone under 16. We use sensitive personal information only for purposes the law allows, such as providing the Services you ask for and keeping people safe, and not to infer characteristics about you.
Shine the Light. We don’t share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.
11. Other U.S. states
Residents of other states with privacy laws, like Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas and Oregon, may have rights similar to those in section 9, and we honor them for everyone. Nevada residents: we don’t sell covered information as Nevada law defines it.
12. Visitors outside the United States
Grownkid is based in the United States, and we process and store information in the US, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live. When you use the Services, your information will be transferred to and handled in the US.
If you’re in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we rely on these legal bases: performing our contract with you (like tickets and orders), our legitimate interests (like running and improving our community and keeping people safe), your consent (like marketing and sensitive information you choose to share), and legal obligations. You have the rights in section 9, plus the right to object to or restrict certain processing and to complain to your local data protection authority.
13. 18 and over only
The Services are only for people 18 and over. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, and if we learn we have, we’ll delete it. If you think someone under 18 has given us information, email us.
14. Third-party sites, platforms and embedded content
The Services link to, and include content from, other companies, like ticketing platforms, Instagram, TikTok, Spotify, YouTube and Substack. When you use them, they collect information under their own privacy policies, and we aren’t responsible for their practices. Please read their policies.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Grownkid grows or the law changes. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date. For material changes, we’ll tell members by email or text, or post a notice on our website, before they take effect.
16. Contact us
