eat, dance, drink a beer, stay til you nap on the chairs
trakaloso takes everything we loved (and hated) about family parties - the banda, the plastic tables, the distant cousins, the drama, the drunk uncles - and turns it into a night where you don’t have to worry about being “too much” or “not enough.”
imagine a dance floor filled with emos, rockeros, and every genre of kid who never saw themselves in a traditional party. quinceañera style tables line the edge of the dance floor, covered in scattered Mexican candies and chips, while warm plates of birria, rice, and beans make their way around the room. people drift between dancing, snacking, and drinking, and end the night passed out on folding chairs just like every childhood party we survived.
trakaloso was inspired by the feeling so many children of immigrants share: growing up between cultures and never fully fitting into either. we lived in the in-between - translating for our parents, code-switching every day, wanting to belong but also wanting to rebel.
we built this night to celebrate that weird, nostalgic in-between space - a place where you can dress in a way your mom would silently judge, dance to the songs you used to hate but now love, and finally feel comfortable embracing your full identity.
a quince for the kids still figuring out home, but proud of their roots.
